LRH appeals to donors for support after power interrupted over unsettled bills

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Lady Ridgeway Hospital (LRH) has a due payment of Rs. 30 million for their electricity bill, LRH Director Dr. G. Wijesuriya said today.

Due to the unavailability of sufficient funds and the current economic crisis, the hospital management was unable to settle the amount.

“Therefore, we had to experience power disruptions on Wednesday (26) at canteens and security offices, but it had not affected the hospital patient treatment centres,” Wijesuriya said.

“It is our responsibility to pay the electricity bill according to our usage. Therefore, we have decided to discuss with the health ministry officials to find a way to settle the due electricity bill,” the doctor added.

He also mentioned that people should understand that the hospital service is a service which cannot be used to gain an income.
