“Our Flag Means Death” S2 Begins Filming

(UTV | COLOMBO) – HBO’s historical pirate comedy “Our Flag Means Death” is officially setting sail, with the show’s second season having just begun production.

Various cast and crew have been posting on social media today confirming the start of filming, including series creator and writer David Jenkins.

The start suggests the series will premiere sometime in mid-late 2023 as the previous season premiered in March 2022, around nine months after filming began. Filming for the new season has relocated to New Zealand.

Set during the Golden Age of Piracy, the series is loosely based on the life of the Gentleman Pirate Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby). Leaving behind his simple and comfortable life in Barbados to prove himself as a pirate, Bonnet and his unlikely crew aboard his ship The Revenge go on many different adventures crossing paths with many famous characters of the time period, including Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard (Taika Waititi).
