Impact of the economic crisis on Sri Lanka’s education sector goes to UN

(UTV | NEW YORK) – Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha has represented Sri Lanka at the Transforming Education Summit held parallel to the 77th United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA.

The main objective of the summit was to find solutions to the global education crisis.

The Education Ministry said in a statement, Heads of State and Education Ministers from a number of countries attended the Transforming Education Summit.

Education Minister Premajayantha made a presentation on the impact the pandemic and economic crisis have had on Sri Lanka’s education sector during the summit.

The launch of the International Finance Facility for Education (IFFEd) that would focus on providing financial assistance to revive education in countries severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the global economic crisis also took place simultaneously.

The Education Ministry said Sri Lanka’s education sector will be benefited under the IFFEd as a result of the presentation made by Minister Susil Premajayantha at the summit.
