SL Parliament observes two-minute silence in memory of Queen

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Two-minute silence was observed in Parliament this morning, in memory of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away at the age of 96.

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena proposed to observe two-minute silence in memory of Her Majesty who reigned as Queen of State of Ceylon from 1952 to 1972.

Accordingly, Parliament which convened under the patronage of Speaker of House Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena this morning observed two-minute silence.

Queen Elizabeth II, the UK’s longest-serving monarch, died at Balmoral aged 96, after reigning for 70 years.
