Thirty Five individuals injured during clashes near Parliament

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Around 35 individuals who sustained injuries during clashes at the Polduwa Junction near Parliament Roundabout have been hospitalized.

Security forces personnel are also among those injured in the clashes.

They have been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital and according to some reports, few individuals have sustained serious injuries.

Police fired tear gas and water cannons to disperse protesters opposite the residence of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena near Parliament.

A large crowd converged near the Polduwa Junction and headed towards Parliament last evening.

Protesters also forcefully entered the Office of the Prime Minister last afternoon while a group also gathered outside the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation.
