(UTV | COLOMBO) – In line with today’s price increase, transportation sector unions say they have directed attention towards increasing fares.

In an inquiry, three wheeler and bus associations revealed that talks will be held today to arrive at a final conclusion.

President of the All-Ceylon Three-Wheeler Owners’ Association Sudil Jayaruk said they have decided to increase fares.

However, he said the price for the first kilometre will stay unchanged at Rs.100. Accordingly, the price for the second kilometre will increase by Rs.10.

Customers will now be charged at Rs. 90 per kilometre.

Jayaruk commented that three wheelers in rural areas will have fares increased by Rs.10 as well, considering the fuel price increase.
