(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Ceylon Electricity Board will impose two-hour-and-30-minute power cuts across the country today.
Permission was granted by the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka to impose power cuts to residential areas only in the afternoon and evening.
The decision was taken based on a request made by the Ministry of Education.
The Education Ministry had requested the PUCSL not to impose power cuts in the mornings, since students will take up online lessons during the next two weeks.
Accordingly, power cuts will be imposed daily between noon and 10.30pm.
Meanwhile, Minister of Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said they are taking steps to impose less than three-hour power cuts daily despite the fuel crisis in the country.
