Twelve deaths so far due to Rabies

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Health authorities state that 12 people have died due to rabies during this year.

The Director of Public Health, Veterinary Services, at the Ministry of Health, Dr. L.B. Kithsiri said that there is currently a shortage of rabies vaccines for humans.

Pointing out that although there is a shortage in the vaccine meant for humans, Dr. Kithsiri said that there is no shortage in the Rabies vaccine for animals, and emphasized for pet dogs and cats to be vaccinated as soon as possible.

Mentioning that usually there are 20-30 deaths due to Rabies per an year, Dr. Kithsiri said that 12 deaths have taken place so far, due to Rabies.
