MR to meet SLPP members today

(UTV | COLOMBO) – It is reported that Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa will meet members of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) including Parliamentarians, former Provincial Councillors and Local Council members today(09).

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and the Cabinet had asked Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to step down at a special Cabinet meeting held on 06 May.

The Prime Minister had agreed to step down subject to assurances that an alternative Government could be formed.

It is unclear whether Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa will announce his resignation today at the meeting.
