(UTV | COLOMBO) – Official-level talks with the International Monetary Fund are set to begin this week.
Finance Minister Ali Sabry told that a preliminary agreement at the official level would be reached within two months.
A group of officials from the International Monetary Fund are scheduled to visit Sri Lanka for these discussions and some discussions are also scheduled to be held online.
The Governor of the Central Bank Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe recently expressed confidence that the discussions with the International Monetary Fund would be successful to have some initial agreements within two to three months.
Addressing the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, he said that progress was being made to establish a macro policy framework for this purpose.
