Another $ 500 million from India for fuel purchases

(UTV | COLOMBO) – External Affairs Minister Prof. GL Peiris has said that India has agreed to provide another US $ 500 million in financial assistance to Sri Lanka for fuel purchases, Reuters news agency reported.

It said the Bangladeshi government had agreed to defer payment of $ 450 million to Bangladesh.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs has said that the relief of the International Monetary Fund is still 6 months away.

He further pointed out that people should find ways to get essential items until these aids are available.
