(UTV | UNITED STATES) – In late 2020 around the time of the release of his most recent project “Mank,” filmmaker David Fincher revealed he had signed an exclusivity deal with Netflix for another four years.
A year-and-a-half on, he has now completed shooting his next feature for the streaming giant – the Michael Fassbender and Tilda Swinton-led assassin noir thriller “The Killer”.
Based on Alexis ‘Matz’ Nolent’s French graphic novel “Le Tueur” and the 2007 Cedric Anger film, the film sees Fincher re-team with his “Se7en” scribe Andrew Kevin Walker on the project which Fincher was initially going to direct for Paramount back in 2007.
Fassbender stars as a solitary, cold, methodical killer watching for his next target. But the longer he waits, the more he thinks he’s losing his mind. Shooting began in November last year and ran across New Orleans, Paris, the Dominican Republic, Chicago, and finally has now finished in Los Angeles.
Erik Messerschmidt (“Mank,” “Mindhunter”) lensed the film which will likely score a 2023 release.
