(UTV | UNITED STATES) – Ernie Hudson has scored one of the lead roles opposite Raymond Lee in NBC’s pilot for their “Quantum Leap” sequel/semi-reboot series.
The new series takes place 30 years after Dr. Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula) stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished. Now a new team has been assembled to restart the project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and its creator.
Lee plays the lead, world-renowned physicist Dr. Ben Seong working to restart the eponymous time travel project. He soon gets stuck in the late 1980s with amnesia after using the technology.
Hudson portrays Herbert ‘Magic’ Williams, a Vietnam veteran who is the director of the Quantum Leap project. Thanks to some political skills, he’s able to keep the Pentagon at bay – buying the team time to rescue Ben.
Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt (“La Brea”) are writing the pilot and will also executive produce. Martin Gero, Don Bellisario and Deborah Pratt also executive produce the project which is backed by Universal Television.
