Nurses’ Union calls off strike after court order

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Government Nurses’ Association has decided to temporarily withdraw from the strike action launched by some health staff based on several demands. The Government Nurses’ Association said the decision was taken following the court order to suspend the strike.

The Union however said the other trade union members would continue the strike.President of the Nurses’ Union Saman Ratnapriya stated that his union will withdraw from the strike with immediate effect.

The Colombo District Court issued an injunction on February10 to suspend the strike. The strike lasted for several days and the patients were in great difficulty due to it.
