State Minister Sudarshini warns on increasing COVID cases

(UTV | COLOMBO) – State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics and COVID Disease Control Sudarshini Fernandopulle warns the public over increasing coronavirus cases in Sri Lanka.

Speaking to media the State Minister said the need for an island wide lockdown would not arise in future.

She commented that people must act responsibly to avoid future problems.

The State Minister said they would follow the international community and not impose lockdowns since 63% of the Lankan population has already been fully vaccinated.

State Minister Fernandopulle encouraged all individuals to obtain the booster jab immediately.

She reiterated that foreigners cannot be blamed for increasing coronavirus cases, when the locals are not following adequate safety measures.

Speaking on false news circulated by certain groups over vaccines, State Minister Sudarshini Fernandopulle said such rumours were cooked up by those with no scientific or medical education.

She urged the public to only believe expert opinions, since doctors and scientists have been educated on dealing with a virus.
