Dates fixed for Rajitha’s ‘White Van Press Conference’ case

(UTV | COLOMBO) –   The case filed against Parliamentarian Rajitha Senaratne and former Chairman of the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation Rumi Mohammed in connection with the controversial ‘White Van Press Conference’ during the 2019 Presidential Election has been fixed for the 15th of March.

The order was issued by Colombo High Court Judge Damith Thotawatte.

The Attorney General had previously served indictments on several counts on the two accused in connection with organizing the press conference on the 10th of November 2019, ahead of the Presidential election.

The duo is accused of making false statements about the personal character of then Presidential candidate of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

The duo also made claims about abducting various individuals using white van abductions, however, two persons who appeared in the media briefing have now been named as the witnesses in the case.
