Doctors to meet Prime Minister

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) stated that a final decision will be taken regarding the resumption of the strike after today’s discussion with Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Accordingly, the relevant discussion is scheduled to be held at Temple Trees at 11:00 a.m.

The union went on an island-wide strike based on seven demands and was suspended on 24 December after four days of strike.

Thereafter, the association decided to hold a discussion with the Prime Minister.

Due to the four-day strike, the patients who came to the hospitals for treatment were severely inconvenienced.

GMOA launched a strike recently to protest against the non-publication of the 2022 annual transfer list, preparation of lists of appointments of specialist doctors without the approval of the Medical Transfer Boards, and making attachments of grade doctors without the approval of the Medical Transfer Boards
