(UTV | BANGLADESH) – Rakibul Hasan will lead defending champions Bangladesh in the upcoming edition of the Under-19 World Cup
Rakibul Hasan will lead defending champions Bangladesh in the upcoming edition of the Under-19 World Cup, Bangladesh Cricket Board announced on Tuesday (December 7). The left-arm spinner, who was a member of the 2020 title winning side, will also lead the team in the upcoming edition of the U-19 Asia Cup, to be played in UAE later this month. The Bangladesh side will travel to the UAE on December 20 for the Asia Cup and will fly to the West Indies from Dubai to defend their World Cup title.
“We have picked Rakibul as he is the senior most player of the team and can handle the boys well in the field,” BCB game development chief selector “Sazzad Ahmed” told on Tuesday. Bangladesh U-19 team cruised to a comprehensive 181-run victory over India U-19 B team to clinch the triangular series title at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Tuesday. The third team in the series was India U-19 A team. According to Sazzad, after series loss to Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, this win was a massive confidence booster for Bangladesh considering they are now well aware of who fits where in the team. “I think by now we have understood the roles of specific players in the team and going forward it will help us perform as a unit.”
