Former PM Wickremesinghe to attend Fifth Indian Ocean Summit

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Former Prime Minister and UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe has been invited to attend the Fifth Indian Ocean Summit to be held in Abu Dhabi from December 3 to 5.

‘Indian Ocean: Ecology, Economy, Epidemic’ is the theme of this year’s conference.

It is reported that further discussions will be held at this conference on how to deal with the threats posed by climate change in the Indian Ocean region.

Ranil Wickremasinghe is the former President of the Indian Ocean Forum and held that position from 2016 to 2019.

The former Prime Minister is scheduled to address the summit on December 05. He will be accompanied by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jayashankar and Singaporean Foreign Minister V. Balakrishnan.
