Postal Unions to strike

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Postal trade Unions warn the government that they will go on an immediate strike action if the Cabinet paper tabled to transfer Urban properties belonging to the postal department to other government departments, is not withdrawn.

The Cabinet paper was approved on the 15th of this month.

Convener of the Joint Postal Trade Union Alliance Chinthaka Bandara claimed that high value Urban properties belonging to the Postal Department will be taken over by the Urban Development Authority, and later transferred to other entities for developmental purposes or income generation.

Bandara revealed that the government is looking to provide such high value properties island wide, for businessmen to lease through the Urban Development Authority.
