Court gives the nod for SJB protest, subject to health guidelines

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Colombo No. 5 Magistrate’s Court has granted permission for the protest organized by the Samagi Janabalawegaya to be held today (16) based on several issues including the rising cost of living.

When the case was taken before Additional Magistrate Bandara Nelumdeniya, permission was granted to hold the protest subject to health guidelines.

The Police requested the court to give an order to ban the protest led by the Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa will be held at 2.00 pm today (16) near the Viharamahadevi Park in Colombo.

Several courts yesterday (15) rejected the request made by police while some courts accepted the request and banned the protest.
