(UTV | COLOMBO) – “Red Notice” Has Netflix’s ‘Biggest Opening Day’

Netflix’s $200 million budget action film “Red Notice” was a massive hit both according to the streamer itself, and a third party analytics film. The stars of the film – Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds – have been posting on social media that the movie had the ‘Biggest Opening Day’ in Netflix history. Netflix itself, which has promised more transparency regarding its numbers, hasn’t discussed any statistics as yet but generally talks about title ‘ratings’ after four weeks of release on the service.

Previously the Chris Hemsworth-led “Extraction” was the service’s most watched movie while the Sandra Bullock-led “Bird Box” was their “most engaged movie”. However analytics firm Samba TV, which measures a sampling of around three million households, says the film had the biggest Friday-Sunday debut of any major title in its listings.

According to them, the movie pulled in 4.2 million viewers over the three-day period, beating high-water marks of HBO Max’s “Mortal Kombat” (3.8 million), Amazon’s “The Tomorrow War” (2.4 million) and Disney+ “Soul” (2.4 million). It also trounced Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” regular release (1.7 million) on the Disney+ service which was the biggest element of the recent Disney+ Day event.
