“Doctor Strange 2” Undergoes Long Reshoots

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Additional filming on any major blockbuster is pretty standard, and Marvel Studios is famous for setting aside time for reshoots for practically all of its major features.

Even so, a new report today at THR indicates that Sam Raimi’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” is undergoing an extensive combination of both ‘additional photography’ and ‘reshoots’ in Los Angeles.

How much they are doing is raising eyebrows with the shoot said to be significant and will involve six days per week shoots for at least six weeks, possibly more.

Sam Raimi remains onboard as direct and “Loki” head writer Michael Waldron is set to pen the new material. It’s not clear who else besides Cumberbatch is involved.

The reasoning for the reshoots is said to be due to logistical factors rather than creative retooling. The trades sources say two weeks of the shoot are due to actor availability issues, some is also due to slowdowns from COVID-related issues.

The crew working on the reshoots are said to have done recent pickups for both “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and the “Moon Knight” series. “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” was recently pushed back from March 25th 2022 to May 6th 2022.
