Emilio Estevez Exits “Mighty Ducks” Series

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Emilio Estevez has exited the “The Mighty Ducks” series revival on the Disney+ service according to Deadline.

The actor, who reprised his role from both the 1992 movie and its 1994 and 1996 sequels in the first season of “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers,” will not return for the follow-up.

ABC Signature, which produces the hockey-themed sequel series, reportedly made the decision not to pick up the actor’s option after weeks of back and forth with his team over the show’s vaccination requirements.

Most Disney TV Studios series have adopted a mandatory vaccination policy for the cast and crew in Zone A (ie. all actors and crew members who come into direct contact with them).

The second season scripts are being written with an early 2022 start of production looming and so the studio made the call to not exercise his option.

Scripts will be adjusted to continue the story without the character. The trade also says sources close to the actor indicate creative differences may have played a role in his exit.
