(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Ministry of Education has issued a special circular bearing the signature of Secretary of the Education Ministry Prof. Kapila Perera, regarding the re-opening of schools on Monday, 8th of November.
As per the circular, the academic activities of Grades 10, 11, 12, and 13 will resume on 8th of November.
The Ministry of Education also stated that all academic staff should be recalled for duty to conduct the academic activities as well.
In addition, all non-academic staff members should also be recalled for duty from the 8th of this month.
However, according to the circular, among the staff members, the expectant mothers and those who have children under the age of one year and education service personnel suffering from various illnesses are ONLY required to report to work, when absolutely necessary.
However, this should be done upon obtaining approval from the Zonal Director of Education by submitting a request letter along with documents confirming the relevant matter.
The Ministry of Education further noted that school uniforms are not mandatory for students during the early days of re-opening of schools adding that students should be granted the opportunity to come to school in suitable attire.
