(UTV | COLOMBO) – A special traffic plan will be in place tomorrow in lieu of the final rites of the late Most Venerable Welamitiyawe Kusaladamma thera.
The funeral of the late Venerable will be held tomorrow at 1:30pm at the Independence Square.
The funeral procession is due to leave the Peliyagoda Vidyalankara Pirivena at 12:30pm tomorrow, and travel along the Kandy Road, Kelani Bridge, Baseline Road, Bandaranaike Junction, Orugodawatte Junction, Ingram Junction, Dematagoda Junction, Prison Junction, Borella Junction DS Senanayake Junction, Wijerama Junction, Horton Place Roundabout, Nanda Motors and reach the Independence Square.
The Police accordingly requested the public to use alternative roads during this period to avoid any inconvenience.
All slaughter houses, meat stalls and licensed liquor outlets within the Colombo and Gampaha districts will be closed tomorrow. The final rites are being held under full state patronage.
