PSM Charles appointed as an Election Commission member

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Parliamentary Council has granted approval to appoint Sundaram Arumainayagam as a member to the Public Service Commission and PSM Charles as a member to the Election Commission.

The Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dasanayake said the Parliamentary Council that convened on Monday under the chairmanship of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena agreed to the proposal by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to appoint Sundaram Arumainayagam as a member to the Public Service Commission following the demise of V. Sivagnanasothi.

He has previously served as the Secretary to the State Ministry of Foreign Employment Promotions & Market Diversification and the State Ministry of Investment Promotion.

The Parliamentary Council also agreed to the President’s proposal to appoint SPM Charles to fill the vacancy following the resignation of Jeevan Thyagarajah from the Elections Commission.

She has previously served as the Governor of the Northern Province and the Secretary to the Ministry of Health and Indigenous Medicine and the Director General of Customs.
