(UTV | COLOMBO) – The price of gas may have to be further increased in the local market said LITRO Gas. The previous price surge in gas was not enough, said LITRO Chief Theshara Jayasinghe, pointing out that they may not be able to stabilise themselves in the global market, unless the gas prices are soared.
Pointing out that the public should not be given false promises regarding the price of gas, the LITRO Chief added that it would be more appropriate to explain to the people the real crisis facing the company.
But steps will be taken to curb the gas prices into a fixed price, he added.
The LITRO Chairman further added that in the future, a sustainable program on gas prices will be formulated and the focus will be on proper management of the prices.
The Chairman of LAUGFS stated that the recent price surge on LP gas has only reduced the losses incurred by the vendors. In order to gain a profit from the business, gas prices should be increased further, the LAUGFS chief commented. There is a risk of further increase in the prices of gas the global market in the future, he added.
