(UTV | COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka claimed a 19-run win over hosts Oman in the first of the a two Twenty20 International series.
Having being put into bat first Sri Lanka managed 162/4 in their allotted 20 overs.
For the visitors Avishka Fernando and Dasun Shanaka top scored and remained unbeaten on 83 and 51 respectively.
Sri Lanka got off to a shaky start after being sent in to bat first.
Dinesh Chandimal who opened the batting with Pathum Nissanka was sent back to the dug out for a duck in the second over while Kamindu Mendis followed him in the very next delivery also for a duck.
Oman’s Fayyaz Butt proved to be the pick of the bowlers for the hosts bagging the two wickets.
Pathum Nissanka fell next after having managed eight runs. Bhanuka Rajapaksa contributed 15 runs.
Oman’s wicketkeeper Naseem Kushi top scored for the hosts making 40 and dismissed in the last delivery of their innings.
Mohammad Nadeem also contributed 32 runs while Ayaan Khan made 23.
Lahiru Kumara was the pick of the bowlers for the Lankans claiming four wickets giving away 30 runs.
Nuwan Pradeep and Chamika Karunaratne were also among the wickets claiming two apiece.
