(UTV | COLOMBO) – The PCR testing facility at the Bandaranaike International Airport will be active from today.
Under the first phase of this project PCR testing facilities will be available for foreign arrivals.
A PCR test will be carried out at 40 USD per test while the laboratory is expected to conduct 500 PCR tests hourly with 7,000 tests able to be carried out daily.
The test result will be issued within a short period of three hours.
Accordingly, the government will allow tourists to travel within the country freely without undergoing a quarantine process, if they return a negative test and have also been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.
As a pilot project the laboratory will also test Sri Lankan expatriate workers.
