(UTV | COLOMBO) – Muslim community stands in solidarity with the Catholic community, and stands with them in their call for justice for the Easter attacks and against undue delay in delivering justice and politically hindering the process of investigation, the All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC) stated.
“We request our party members, supporters, sympathisers and Muslim brothers and sisters to express solidarity with the Cardinals request to hoist the black flag on 21 August 2021,” ACMC’s Senior Deputy Leader Noordeen Mohamed Shaheid, and the Secretary General S. Subairdeen said.
The ACMC Officials announced that the Party would extend its fullest support to the black flag protest today (21) proposed by the Archbishop of Colombo, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith.
Cardinal Malcom Ranjith had earlier announced that all residences, shopping malls, workplaces, offices and vehicles of Catholics in Sri Lanka shall hoist the black flag on 21 August in protest of the Government’s attempts to suppress dissent, silence minorities and politically sabotage the process of democracy. He also called on people of all faiths to join hands and protest against the undemocratic style of governance by the incumbent Government.
He further asserted that the Government which had come to power on the promise of delivering justice to the Easter attack victims had failed to honour its pledge.
