(UTV | COLOMBO) – The CW is reportedly developing “The Winchesters,” a “Supernatural” prequel that will bring back star Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester in a narrator role.
The series will focus on Dean and Sam Winchester’s parents, John and Mary. This the “epic, untold love story” of how John met Mary and how they put it all on the line to not only save their love but the entire world.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan played John Winchester as a regular throughout its first season while Samantha Smith played Mary as a regular across Seasons 12-14. Both occasionally guest-starred throughout the run.
Matt Cohen guest-starred three times and Amy Gumenick twice as a young John and Mary in episodes set in the past or in flashbacks.
Ackles is an executive producer alongside wife Danneel via their Chaos Machine Productions banner. The show currently has a script commitment and will be written by co-executive producer Robbie Thompson.
The mothership series ran for fifteen seasons from 2005-2020.
