(UTV | COLOMBO) – A new report indicates that while Disney and Marvel Studios have been very good about getting all the MCU films onto Blu-ray and 4K physical discs, don’t expect the same of their TV series.
TV Line indicates the studio has “no plans” to release their Disney+ live-action MCU shows like “WandaVision” or “Loki” on Blu-ray or 4K Ultra HD formats. Though framed with the caveat “never say never,” it’s quite clear the exclusivity with Disney+ will remain the only way to see these series.
Physical media has increasingly become a niche market with time as streaming has both expanded in terms of availability and the number of services. However, disc collectors very much have their reasons for desiring physical releases not reliant on sometimes spotty internet connections and that can handle high-quality bit rates and boast supplementary material.
Upcoming MCU features like “Black Widow,” “Shang-Chi” and “Eternals” are still reportedly poised to get full home video releases on disc following their theatrical runs. The report comes as director Kate Herron has confirmed on Twitter that “Loki” has wrapped and the finale has been delivered to Disney+ just one month out from airing.
