Segel to write ‘Thrones’ prequel “10,000 Ships”

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Amanda Segel (“The Good Wife,” “Person of Interest”) is set to pen “10,000 Ships,” one of several “Game of Thrones” spin-offs still in the works at HBO.

Set a thousand years before the events of “A Song of Ice and Fire,” this prequel would follow Princess Nymeria who journeyed with the surviving Rhoynar after their defeat by the Valyrian Freehold in the Second Spice War.

They fled Essos and eventually settled in Dorne where Nymeria married Lord Mors Martell in an alliance that saw them rise from very minor landholders to a powerhouse that then launched a war and had ruled Dorne ever since.

This will join the other projects in the works including “9 Voyages” which follows Lord Corlys Velaryon, husband of Rhaenys Targaryen and the most well-known nautical adventurer in all of Westeros who built a house richer than the Lannisters and who goes by the name of the ‘Sea Snake’.

Bruno Heller (“Gotham,” “Pennyworth”) is attached to write “9 Voyages”. Another series titled “Flea Bottom” is also in very early stages and centers on the poorer areas of King’s Landing.

They join the one series that has headed into production – “House of the Dragon” – which is set three centuries before ‘Thrones’.
