Flanagan, Universal go to Mars in “Passage”

(UTVNEWS | COLOMBO) – Universal Pictures has snapped up a feature film adaptation of Christopher Pike’s 1993 sci-fi horror novel “The Season of Passage”.

“The Haunting of Hill House” creator and “Doctor Sleep” director Mike Flanagan will direct, produce and co-write the screenplay with James Flanagan.

The original book centers around a U.S. manned expedition to Mars which follows in the wake of a Russian one that went missing before them. Were they simply dead, or did something else happen to them?

The terror starts long before any of them ever leave the ground as vivid nightmares and unexplainable dread of the ‘dead’ planet rise up. Dr. Lauren Wagner, an admired and respected member of the crew, hears voices inside entreating her to love them.

Trevor Macy will produce the film which marks Flanagan’s second adaptation of a Pike work, the first being the currently in production TV series “The Midnight Club” for Netflix which just had Iman Benson, Larsen Thompson, William B. Davis, Crystal Balint and Patricia Drake join the cast.
