Police warn public over stolen goods cyber sales

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Police uncovered a racket where stolen goods were being sold over the internet recently, and urged public to be careful when buying goods online.

The suspects are selling electrical and electronic equipment, as well as jewellery and books over the internet at low prices, the Police stated.

They deliver the goods in a place where there are no close-up surveillance cameras, which the public does not pay much attention to, the Police added.

Currently, the IMEI Numbers (International Mobile Equipment Identity) of all stolen mobile phones are published on the website www.ineed.police.lk maintained by Sri Lanka Police. Investigations are continuing.
