Furman to helm Pistol Pete Maravich biopic

Following his “City of Lies” film finally scoring a release, filmmaker Brad Furman (“The Lincoln Lawyer,” “The Infiltrator”) has signed on to both write and direct a biopic about basketball player ‘Pistol’ Pete Maravich.

NBA All-Star Steve Nash has been developing the project for six years and will produce alongside Ezra Holland, Peter Lawson, Jake Septimus and Brett Rapkin.

The story will explore the life and career of the NBA Hall of Famer who struggled with alcoholism and personal tragedy, including the suicide of his mother.

After retiring he teetered on the edge of sanity, building underground bomb shelters and studying Ufology. He ultimately found peace and forgiveness with his father before dying suddenly at the age of 40.
