AG forwards pollution claim of Rs 3.4 billion to MT New Diamond owners

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Attorney General (AG) Dappula De Livera has forwarded marine pollution claim for Rs. 3,423 billion to lawyers of ship owners of MT New Diamond, over oil spill caused in 2020.

MT New Diamond caught fire off the Eastern Coast of Sri Lanka on 03 September 2020, resulting in the death of a Filipino crew member.

After burning intermittently for almost a week, the fire was reported to be extinguished by 11 September.
