(UTV | COLOMBO) – South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-Wook (“Oldboy,” “Stoker,” “The Handmaiden”) has landed another Hollywood effort following 2018’s mini-series adaptation of John le Carre’s “The Little Drummer Girl”.
Park is set to direct A24’s English-language limited series adaptation of “The Sympathizer,” based on author Viet Thanh Nguyen’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel.
The story follows a half-French, half-Vietnamese man that served as a communist spy during the Vietnam War and chronicles his life in the final days of the conflict and while in exile.
The director is currently in the middle of production on a new feature, “Decision to Leave,” which is targeting a release later this year.
