(UTVNEWS | COLOMBO) – California Governor Gavin Newsom has announced June 15th as the date that the U.S. state will be getting rid of the pandemic’s colored [reopening] tiered restrictions and returning to full “business as usual”.
This date will hold so long as vaccine supplies continue to increase, Californians continue to get them in increasing numbers, and so long as the state sees a low level of disease.
While cases rise across the country, California’s numbers are declining with the state having the lowest case rates in the U.S. along with passing 20 million vaccine doses delivered – more than all but five countries worldwide.
If the progress continues, capacity restrictions on movie theaters will be eliminated, though the state’s mask mandate will remain and there is no timeline for ending the mask requirement.
Large-scale indoor events, such as conventions, will be allowed to occur with testing or vaccination verification requirements but big events like Coachella won’t happen until likely well after June 15th.
