“Suicide Squad” trailer breaks record

(UTVNEWS | COLOMBO) – Filmmaker James Gunn has taken to Twitter to reveal that the red-band trailer for his upcoming “The Suicide Squad” film has broken a major record.

The semi-reboot/semi-sequel of the DC Comics title has reportedly received the most views in a single week of any red-band trailer to date. Since its debut last Friday, it has scored 150 million views – beating the record previously held by the upcoming “Mortal Kombat”.

The film sees Colonel Rick Flag, Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, King Shark and Harley Quinn among others armed and dropped into the enemy-infused jungle island of Corto Maltese.

With militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and-destroy mission while Amanda Waller’s techies track their every movement and threaten to kill them if they get out of line.

Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Margot Robbie, John Cena, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Peter Capaldi, Nathan Fillion, Taika Waititi, Michael Rooker, Sean Gunn, Alice Braga, David Dastmalchian, and Pete Davidson star in the film which will be released in cinemas and on HBO Max on August 6th.
