“The Witcher” wraps production on S2

(UTVNEWS | COLOMBO) – Several postings on social media have confirmed that filming on the second season of Netflix’s “The Witcher” finally wrapped.

Postings by actress Anna Shaffer, casting director Sophie Holland, hair and makeup artist Jacqueline Rathore and several other crew indicate that the shoot is over as of today (April 1st).

It has been a long run, the second season commenced production in February last year but was quickly put on hold due to the pandemic. Filming began again August and hit a brief pause in November due to some positive COVID test results.

The show’s second season will pick up with Geralt of Rivia taking Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen.

The new season has no premiere date yet, though wrapping now suggests a likely end of 2021 bow – filming on the first season wrapped May 2019 ahead of a December premiere that year.

Netflix is also working on the six-part spin-off prequel series “The Witcher: Blood Origin” and the animated feature “The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf”.
