(UTV | COLOMBO) – Travel restrictions will be imposed if necessary during the upcoming festive season, said the Head of the National Operations Center for Prevention of Covid-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Army Commander General Shavendra Silva.
He said that, increase in the COVID-19 cases in the country following the last Christmas season confirmed that public do not follow the health safety guidelines.
Army Commander noted that, “the highest numbers of COVID-19 cases were detected in January and February, after Christmas and the following long holiday”.
People should be more careful to avoid group contacts and should strictly adhere to health guidelines during the upcoming festive season, he further said.
