Spielberg helming film about his childhood

Filmmaker Steven Spielberg will reportedly direct a currently untitled feature at Amblin Partners that is loosely based on his own childhood growing up in Arizona.

That’s not all as Michelle Williams is reportedly in negotiations to star in a major role inspired by Spielberg’s mother but with “a separate and original voice”.

The project will mark the first time since “A.I.” twenty years ago that Spielberg will be involved in screenwriting, in this case co-writing the script with regular collaborator Tony Kushner.

Casting on other roles, including children at multiple age levels, will begin imminently. Shooting will kick off this summer with the aim to release sometime in 2022.

Spielberg’s already completed remake of the musical “West Side Story” will bow at year’s end.
