Filmmaker Neill Blomkamp has confirmed that he and writing partners Sharlto Copley and Terri Tatchell are in the process of penning the screenplay “District 10,” the long-awaited follow-up to South Africa’s biggest box office hit “District 9”.
Blomkamp in a tweet earlier today said: “District 10 screenplay also being written by @sharlto (Sharlto Copley) @territachell (Terri Tatchell) and I. It’s [sic] coming…”.
The original film grossed $211 million worldwide and received four Academy Award nominations, including best picture and original screenplay. Rumors of a sequel have swirled since the first film’s release.
Blomkamp most recently shot the horror film “Demonic” which AGC has started screening. He was scheduled to shoot the Taylor Kitsch-led “Inferno” but the pandemic upended those plans.
