Sri Lanka – Pakistan Prime Ministers meet in Colombo

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Prime Minister Imran Khan, who has arrived in Colombo for a 2-day maiden visit to Sri Lanka on the invitation of the country’s Prime Minister, held a one-on one meeting with his counterpart Mahinda Rajapaksa on Tuesday (23).

“Prime Minister Imran Khan holds One-on-One meeting with Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees in Colombo, Sri Lanka,” the Prime Minister’s Office of Pakistan stated in a tweet.

Both the leaders are expected to address a joint press conference following the meeting.

Upon arrival, Premier Khan was accorded a red-carpet reception which was followed by a formal welcoming ceremony, where he was given a 19-gun salute.

The premier also inspected an impressive guard-of-honour, following which the national anthems of both countries were played.

Premier Khan also signed the visitors’ book, according to the official statement.

He will hold talks with the top Sri Lankan leadership, including President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to discuss issues of bilateral and regional significance.

Premier Khan together with Premier Rajapaksa will also participate in Pakistan – Sri Lanka Trade and Investment Conference.

Premier Khan is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Members of the Cabinet and Senior Government Officials including Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the communiqué said.
