“Bridgerton” star joins “Dungeons and Dragons”

“Bridgerton” star Rege-Jean Page has set Hasbro/eOne and Paramount’s film adaptation of the classic board game franchise “Dungeons & Dragons” as his first project since breaking out in the Netflix hit.

Page has closed a deal for a leading role alongside Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez and Justice Smith in the film which hails from “Game Night” directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley who also wrote the latest version of the script based on a previous draft by Michael Gilio.

It is not known whether the film will be a straight-up fantasy film, set in the world of the game, or incorporate game-playing aspects into the narrative. More than 40 million fans have interacted with or played D&D since it was first published 46 years ago.

Brian Goldne and Jeremy Latcham are producing. Page, who also starred in “Mortal Engines” and “Sylvie’s Love,” is set to host “Saturday Night Live” this weekend.
