AstraZeneca vaccine will be distributed on Friday

(UTV | COLOMBO) – COVID 19 Vaccine Committee Chairman and Senior Advisor to the President, Lalith Weerathunga, today stated that the AstraZeneca Covishield vaccine, which is to be imported tomorrow, will be distributed to hospitals and treatment centers on Friday (29).

He further stated that the Sri Lankan Government is completely responsible for the effects of the vaccine as they have signed an indemnity agreement with the manufacturers for the correct use of the vaccine.

“We have spent over Rs. 80 million daily for PCR testing, therefore, it is urgent for us to find a way to reduce the cost incurred by COVID-19,” Weerathunga said
