“Willow” Sequel Series Is A Go At Disney+

It’s official, the Disney+ streaming service has handed out a green light for Lucasfilm’s follow-up TV series to Ron Howard’s iconic 1988 fantasy feature “Willow”.

Warwick Davis will reprise his role of Willow Ufgood in the series, whilst Jon M. Chu is set to direct the first episode and executive produce alongside Howard. Set years after the film, it will introduce new characters into its world of fairy queens and monsters.

Jonathan Kasdan (“Solo”) wrote the pilot, and will serve as showrunner alongside Wendy Mericle (“Arrow”). The original film’s writer Bob Dolman will serve as a consulting producer.

Chu, Kasdan, Mericle, Howard, Kathleen Kennedy and Michelle Rejwan are executive producing. The project marks Lucasfilm’s first foray into storytelling outside the “Star Wars” universe since 2015.
