“Mad Max” prequel “Furiosa” sets key cast

Following months of rumors, it’s now official – George Miller’s “Mad Max: Fury Road” prequel film “Furiosa” is not only going ahead, but has already set three of its key cast members.

Anya Taylor-Joy (“Split,” “The Witch”) will star as a younger version of Charlize Theron’s Furiosa, and she will be joined by none other than Thor himself Chris Hemsworth along with “Watchmen” and “Aquaman” star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

Story details are under wraps but the film is expected to cover the early days of the title character and how she would grow to become a war captain under Immortan Joe.

Miller directs from a script he co-wrote with Nick Lathouris. The film will be produced by Miller’s own Australian-based Kennedy Miller Mitchell banner together with Warner Bros. Pictures.
